Statement

I have always been obsessed with artistic drawing and design. When my family brought me to the UK for a summer trip last year, I was fascinated by these classic beautiful European building designs, and the unique carvings on the walls. This inspired my decision to study in the UK which led me to want to study in Manchester School of Architecture (MSA). MSA is my dream school because of its collaboration between the Manchester Metropolitan University(MMU) which gives students more resources and opportunities. During my visit, I was in love with the contrast between its modern architecture building, created in collaboration with MMU, and the historic buildings across the campus. These buildings really touch me because Its focus on sustainability and urban regeneration which fits my goal of designing eco-friendly structures that respect history. I wish one day I can be part of this fabulous Architecture design process.  One of my favorite architects is Vincent Callebaut, who is a mast...

Fusions of Time

圖片
Theme: Crossover of civilization by a combination of an old style building built on top of a modern style building Inspiration: The idea for this building is a combination of two different building styles. The artwork represents the peaceful collaboration relationship between traditional and modern apartment buildings. The building on top is a traditional old style home in the districts where I live, whereas the building underneath is a future modern style building which gives the whole artwork a different perspective.  Wild: 39.3 in, Depth: 27.2 in, Material: Technical pan , Watercolor september 9, 2023, Individual, indipendent work related to a course

Infinity stream

圖片
Theme: A building structure that is an impossible architectural design to happen in real life.  Inspiration: My idea came from the very famous Penrose Triangle which creates a very weird infinite 3D structure by connecting routes which could not possibly exist. I use a similar idea to create a stream with water moving upward and falling back from the top. I also created a building in the middle of the stream which rotates 90 degrees under the stream.  Process: I use Procreate software to draft a sketch, then finish it by using Adobe illustrator software. Cat Advanture

圖片
theme: I want to challenge the perspective of anti-animalism people and that cats are our friends even if they are dominant in the human world.   Inspiration: This drawing is inspired by a very sad incident - a psychic anti-animalism murderer had killed more than 100 innocent cats within about two months and this happened right next to the street where I live in Taiwan. As a cat lover and owner I was shocked and heartbroken and so I created this work which reversed the roles of cat and human. I created a very similar street where this incident happened and a large cat's hands which represent humans who have absolute power. The running mouse in the middle represents those anti-animalism individuals, which shows people how it feels like when you are under the shadow of larger and more powerful animals. I believe cats are friendly animals, so even if they were given power and grow big in the human cities, they would only use their paws to help catch rats but would never abuse hum...

Park

圖片
Theme:  Cross hand art structure to be placed in the park as a rain shelter. Inspiration: I came up with this rib bone idea from the hand clasped gesture, which signifies thinking and consciousness.  Process: In the process of making this work piece, I first cut out a transparent plastic sheet and curved it to the shape I wanted.  Then I cut the white plastic board into strips of the same length and then arranged them into different heights. I lay out the rib bone-like pieces in curved lines, which make the structure look like crossing hands. Finally, I glued them all to a transparent board on top of the structure and made it look smooth. This art piece functions as a rain shelter.       Height: 25 in, Wild: 40 in, Depth: 60.5 in, Material: Foam board , Plexiglass August 15, 2024,  Individual, independent work unrelated to a course
